Alan Craig- Rhythm Guitars, Keys
Q: Who are your musical influences? "I think I'm kind of influenced by everything I listen to in some form or fashion. I mean, I have a lot bands I like or even love across different genres, but influenced? To me that's a big word, a big deal. I would have to say the bands that have had the biggest impact on my style, my playing, and writing would be Savatage, Judas Priest, Scorpions, and Metal Church."
Q: What was your first music concert? "RUSH, Signals tour 1983. Needless to say, I was blown away!"
Q: What is your songwriting process like? "It has changed somewhat over the years. I used to always write the music first. I would come up with a riff and build off it from there writing the lyrics after the music was written. I have to like all the parts you know? Verses, pre-chorus, bridge, all of it. It's super important to me that they all mesh, that they all sound good and are fluid, both the music and the lyrics. More recently, I've been writing the music and the lyrics at the same time and I'm really digging it. It's so cool when you're in that groove and it's all just flowing."
Q: How would you describe your style of music? "Metal, kind of old school, but with a modern flare to it. I think it's awesome when you hear a song and you know who it is right from the beginning, especially if it's a new song you've never heard before. I hope SEVIINTH GATE songs carry that same type of musical luster."
Q: What do you like to do in your free time outside of music? "I'm a bit of a homebody, I always seem to have projects I'm working on around the house. I grow some killer tomato's by the way. I enjoy barbecuing and hanging out with friends and family, a good sushi bar from time to time. I like documentaries, nature shows, movies, and of course listening to music. Working out is important to me as well having a strong relationship with God. You've got to keep it all together you know? Keep it all in perspective. Mind, body, and soul, it's all important."
